چکیده

Antimicrobial and antitumor activities of Camellia sinensis L seed extracts were investigated. Seed extracts showed antifungal activities against Candida albicans IFO 1594 and Cryptococcus neoformans. Inhibition zone of 20 mm was shown by 70% ethanol extract against C. albicans IFO 1594 at 100 mg/mL. Antifungal activity of seed extract was not decreased by heating at 80 and 100C for 30 min or at 121C for 15 min, indicating heatstability of seed component. Growth-inhibitory effects were observed in 70 and 10% of tumor cell line SK-OV3 and normal cell line NIH/3T3 at 50 μg/mL, respectively.

The effect of a component of tea (Camellia sinensis) on methicillin resistance, PBP2' synthesis, and beta-lactamase production in Staphylococcus aureus.

Extracts of tea (Camellia sinensis) can reverse methicillin resistance in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and also, to some extent, penicillin resistance in beta-lactamase-producing S. aureus. These phenomena are explained by prevention of PBP2' synthesis and inhibition of secretion of beta-lactamase, respectively. Synergy between beta-lactams and tea extracts were demonstrat...

Antimicrobial Effect of Combined Extract of Three Plants Camellia Sinensis, Teucrium Polium and Piper Nigrum on Antibiotic Resistant Pathogenic Bacteria

Background and Aims: Microbial biofilms are responsible for 65% of human infections and antibiotic resistance. Therefore, finding appropriate ways to prevent infection and biofilm formation is essential. Medicinal plants are one of the suitable candidates to inhibit the antibiotics resistance particularly in biofilm forms. In this study, antimicrobial effects of T.C.P combined extracts (methano...
